Flushing and refilling the cooling system on a GTI is easy to do and easy to get wrong — these engines trap air, and an airlock will make a perfectly healthy car run hot or throw a temperature light. The refill and bleed matter more than the drain. Do it cold, take your time on the bleed, and use the correct VW coolant (see GTI Fluids Capacities)
