On older GTIs the headliner (roof lining) and some soft-touch trim age in predictable ways — a sagging/drooping headliner, peeling soft-touch coatings, and sticky rubberised buttons. All cosmetic, all fixable, and worth sorting because they make an otherwise good car feel tired. Newer cars mostly avoid the headliner issue but can get sticky-trim
