I refill an EA888 with proper G13. It supersedes G12++.
And yes, bleed it properly. Trap air in an EA888 and it will read as overheating when nothing is actually wrong.
While you are there, the rest of how I do this job:
- The water pump and thermostat on this engine are one plastic module. I replace the whole pump/thermostat assembly; there is no sense rebuilding a seal.
- I only fit the revised module with the metal impeller and housing. The old plastic impeller erodes, and I am not doing this job twice.
- I always do the pump and thermostat together. If one half has gone, the other is right behind it.
- I check the hoses while I am in there.
For the job you want the revised metal-impeller pump/thermostat assembly and a fresh fill of G13.
