Flushing the brake fluid every 2 years keeps the pedal firm and prevents fade — an easy DIY with a helper or a pressure bleeder.
Steps:
- Top the reservoir with fresh DOT 4. Start at the corner furthest from the master cylinder and work in.
- Open the bleed nipple, push fluid through (helper on the pedal, or a pressure/vacuum bleeder) until clean fluid runs with no bubbles, then close.
- Repeat each corner, keeping the reservoir topped so you never draw air.
- If air got into the ABS module, a full bleed needs a VCDS-actuated ABS bleed.
Gotchas: never let the reservoir run dry; close each nipple before releasing the pedal.
