The Golf R32 (Mk4 2004, Mk5 2008) is the GTI's bigger brother — the 3.2 VR6, 4Motion AWD, and the model that launched the DSG gearbox.
What it is:
- A naturally-aspirated VR6 with a glorious noise, Haldex AWD, and a heavier, more grown-up character than the FWD GTI.
- The Mk5 R32 was the first public car to offer DSG.
Owning one:

- Heavier on the nose than a GTI, thirstier, and the NA VR6 doesn't tune like a turbo — but the sound and traction are the appeal.
