Beyond a tune, the bolt-ons that actually help a turbo GTI are specific — plenty of parts add noise, not power.
What helps:
- Downpipe (high-flow/decat) — the most effective hardware mod, especially with a Stage 2 tune; frees the turbo. Legality/emissions caveats with a decat.
- Intercooler — a bigger front-mount holds power on repeated pulls and hot days; worthwhile on a tuned car.
- Intake — adds induction noise and a little top-end with a tune; on its own, mostly sound.
- Cat-back / turbo-back exhaust — sound and a small gain.
What doesn't do much: a panel filter alone, and "power modules" that clamp the MAP sensor — avoid those, they're crude and can run the car lean.
