The mechatronic unit — the valve body plus control module inside the DSG — is the usual failure point on both boxes (see DSG DQ250 vs DQ200), and replacing or resealing it is a doable job because it comes out without splitting the gearbox from the engine. It is fiddly, fluid-messy, and coding-dependent, but it is not an engine-out nightmare
