The DSG fluid and filter service (DQ250 wet-clutch) is a doable DIY and essential every ~40k miles — skipping it is the fastest route to a mechatronic bill.
Steps:
- Fill level is set by temperature — you must check the fluid temp on VCDS (around 35–45°C).
- Drain the pan, drop the pan and filter, clean the magnets, fit the new filter and pan (new gasket/seal).
- Fill with the exact DSG fluid until it runs out of the level port at the specified temperature.
- Some services also change the external filter.
Gotchas:
- Use only the specified DSG fluid and the right quantity.
- The fill-at-temperature step is the one people get wrong — too cold or hot and the level is off.
