Two intake-side mods show up on tuned GTIs: an open/uprated air intake and a turbo inlet pipe (TIP). Their value depends on your power level — on a stock or Stage 1 car the gains are small and mostly about sound; at Stage 2+ and on upgraded turbos the turbo inlet genuinely matters.
