The N75 boost-control solenoid (and the electronic wastegate actuator on newer cars) controls boost — a failing one causes over- or under-boost and limp mode.
Symptoms:
- Overboost cut (sudden power drop and limp) or underboost (down on power).
- Boost-deviation codes (P0234 / P0299) on VCDS.
Diagnose:
- On the 1.8T and FSI, the N75 solenoid modulates the wastegate — a stuck one mis-controls boost. Cheap part; swap and retest.
- Rule out a boost leak and the diverter valve first — same codes.
- On EA888 Gen3+ the wastegate is an electronic actuator (Turbo Wastegate) — different part, same job.
