Stage 2 on a GTI means a downpipe (and usually a Stage 2 tune written for it) — freeing the exhaust after the turbo for more power and quicker spool than Stage 1. It's a popular step, but it has legal and hardware implications, especially on newer GPF cars. See Tuning Mod Order Roadmap
