The Mk6 GTI (2010–2014) is a refined Mk5 — same platform, cleaner looks, and the EA888 Gen 2 engine. Better day-to-day, with two engine watch-items.
Engine: the 2.0 TSI (EA888 Gen 2) — smoother and more efficient than the FSI, but it introduced the timing-chain tensioner worry and some oil consumption.
What defines it: polish over novelty — the Mk5 formula matured, still huge tuning support.
